How do I know if I need more attic insulation?
Common signs are rooms that stay hot in the afternoon, ceiling joists you can see above the insulation, and insulation that looks flattened or patchy. The only way to know for sure is to look, so we inspect the attic and show you photos.
Can you add insulation over what I already have?
Often, yes, when the existing insulation is dry, clean and in reasonable condition. If it’s damaged, dirty or very uneven, we may recommend removing it first. We’ll explain which applies to your attic.
Which type of insulation is right for my attic?
It depends on the attic’s layout, access and what’s there now. Blown-in loose-fill suits most open attic floors; batts suit open joist bays such as garage ceilings. We recommend an option after the inspection.
How long does attic insulation take?
Many attic jobs take a day or less, depending on the size of the attic and whether old insulation has to come out first. Your estimate includes a time frame.
Will new insulation lower my energy bills?
